Chris Mahon stands for IUCN Council

Chris Mahon has a long-standing association with the Sibthorp Trust, acting as its part-time Secretariat for many years and bringing forward projects and initiatives such as the Question Time event with Jonathan Dimbleby and the ‘Beavers and the Ecosystem Approach’ film.

During that time he championed the Sibthorp Trust as an organisation Member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), promoting the Trust at international and national events and voting on important Motions on its behalf at several World Conservation Congresses.

The Sibthorp Trust will continue to have an active role in nature conservation policy on the global stage and was pleased to support Chris Mahon’s prospective candidacy to the IUCN Council for one of three seats as ‘Councillor Elected from the Regions’ for West Europe. This nomination has now been approved and the election of Councillors to IUCN Council from all of the IUCN regions will take place at the next IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi in October this year.
